Julia Ann Zelno passed away at home in Gladwin, Michigan on Saturday morning, January 25, 2025, at the age of 62, with her loving husband by her side.
Julia was born on November 19, 1962, daughter of Priscilla Matherly. Julia became a licensed practical nurse, in which she spent over 37 years in her profession. Julia was a very talented and creative artist. She spent much of her free time painting, drawing, making dolls and other crafts. Julia enjoyed the outdoors very much. She loved fishing, bear hunting, turkey hunting, camping, and taking trips to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan to enjoy the beautiful seasons.
Julia is survived by her husband of over 20 years, Richard Zelno; stepdaughters, Rachel (Brandon) Betrus and Stephanie Zelno; six grandchildren; adoptive mother, Dora Elder who raised her alongside her adoptive father, Donald at an early age; brother, Bob Elder; and many loving family members and friends. Julia was preceded in death by her adoptive-father, Donald Elder, birth mother Priscilla (step-father Jack) Matherly; stepdaughter, Christina Zelno; stepson, Justin Zelno; mother and father-in-law, Mary Zelno and Ronald Zelno, and her precious fur baby of 17 years, Lucy Bug.
A private memorial service will be held, remembering Julia in the presence of close family. An online guest registry is available to share condolences and memories of Julia at www.squiresfuneralhome.com
