I want to share my mother's earliest memory of Julian. He was the bat boy for the Surry town baseball team when he was 8 or 9 years old. On game days he would show up in his uniform at the Johnson cottage to catch a ride to the game. She says my dad, Coffee, and Lloyd teased him until he was almost in tears, but every week he came back ready to go. Julian has always been a part of life in Surry to me, and we will miss him.

I spent many hours at Scotland during the summers playing ping pong with Julian in the store. I will treasure always my friendship with Julian and his family. Scotland won't be the same without him!
