FAIR HAVEN-Julian Pio Sbardella, 87, of Fair Haven passed away Wednesday November 20, 2024 at his residence of old age.
He was born in Fair Haven on January 16, 1937 to Dominic V. and Carmena (Ruby) Sbardella.
Julian was educated in the Fair Haven School system where he enjoyed playing all sports, and graduated Becker Junior College with a degree in business.
He was a partner in Sbardella and Sons Slate Quarry, a co-owner of Fireside Restaurant and Lounge, and Hillside Motel. He also owned and operated Countryside Real Estate in Castleton for many years. He served as a longtime Supervisor for Southern Wine and Spirits, working with the Vermont State Legislature. In addition, he served on the Vermont State Liquor Board for 6 years.
Mr. Sbardella loved hunting, fishing and all things outdoors. He studied Vermont history, enjoyed nature, and was involved in his local community where he served on several boards. He was a longtime member (since 1964) and past president of the Castleton Lions Club. He was also a member of the Elks Club. He taught for 50 years as a hunter's safety instructor in Castleton and at Kehoe Conservation Camp.
Survivors include his wife Debra (Poalino), son Karl (Donna) Sbardella, daughter Jane (Rick) Tucker, stepson Josiah Milardo, stepdaughter Tiffany (Don) Fenton and their son Alexander; 2 sisters Josephine Williams and Marie Hanley both of Poultney, sister-in-law Dolores (Patten) Sbardella of Low Hampton, NY, 6 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, 2 brothers Dominic Sbardella, Jr and James Sbardella, and 2 stepsons Christopher Rudnicki and Jeremiah Rudnicki.
A funeral mass will be held 10am Friday Dec 6th 2024 at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Church in Fair Haven. Following his wishes a reception and celebration of life will follow. There will be no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers Mr Sbardella requests donations be made to Kehoe Conservation Camp, GMCC Endowment Fund, Vermont Fish & Wildlife Department, 1 National Life Drive, Davis 2, Montpelier, VT 05620-3208p.
