Julian Bain Turner, 35, of Huntington, passed away on Tuesday, May 4, 2010 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House of Huntington. He was born in Grand Forks, North Dakota, February 22, 1975., where he lived for 3 years. His family also lived in San Juan, Puerto Rico , Beckley, Teays Valley, and Huntington, WV. He was a graduate of Huntington High School and Marshall University. He received a Masters Degree in Spanish from Ohio University. At the time of his death, he was an Instructor of Spanish at The College of the Albemarle in Elizabeth City, NC. He previously taught Spanish at Ohio University and Dodge City Community College in Dodge City, KS. While an undergraduate student at Marshall, he studied Spanish abroad in Madrid, Spain. Following his graduation from Marshall, he taught for two years in Santiago, Chile and traveled extensively throughout South America and Europe.. In South America, he was scheduled to participate in a Fulbright grant to study native South American cultures and political influences, but the grant was cancelled due to safety concerns. Bain was an accomplished guitar player, enjoyed traveling, and was a huge Marshall Thundering Herd fan. Bain was a Christian by faith.. He is survived by his parents, Art and June Turner of Huntington, a brother and sister-in law, Jared and Crystal Turner of Cross Lanes, one nephew, Braden Kyle Turner of Cross Lanes., a special girlfriend, Erin Kessler of Charlotte, North Carolina, a grandfather and step grandmother, Butch and Jenny Sturgill, of Knott County, Ky,. uncles, Bill Sturgill of Lexington, Ky, and Ed Williams of Leburn, Ky., aunts, Lavenia Johnson of Cincinnati, Ohio, Roberta Stinette of Rochelle, Ill., Joyce Miller of Columbus, Ohio, Betty Smith and Peggy Sue Cox, both of Leburn, Ky. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Ruth Turner Sturgill and Arthur “Buster� Turner, maternal grandparents, Matilda and Curt Williams. Also preceding him in death was a very special first cousin, Angela Sue Cox. Bain had many friends, including long time friends, Kelly and Chris Caudill..Visitation will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 8, at the Enslow Park Presbyterian Church in Huntington, followed by funeral services at 11 a.m.,with pastor Chris Perkins, formerly of Knott County, Ky., officiating. Burial will follow in the Spring Hill Cemetery in Huntington. Klingel Carpenter Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
