Juliana Guazzo

Juliana (Lily) Guazzo survived to the amazing age of 107 before passing quietly in her sleep on January 23, 2022 at home. She was a graduate of Hunter High School, Hunter College, and Columbia University Teachers College, and was fond of saying that Hunter High was the hardest and the best. She was a devoted teacher for over 40 years in the Long Beach School System and taught three generations of children. Upon her retirement, she took up sculpting and became an accomplished sculptor for the next twenty years. She was an avid traveler both before and after her retirement with her beloved husband Caesar. Upon both their retirements, they spent winters for over 30 years in the home they loved in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, until Caesar's passing in 2005. She remained feisty and independent and strong-minded until the very end. She was much loved by her three sisters, Jo, Louise and Anna, all of whom predeceased her, and had a particularly special relationship with her nephew, Steve Grasso, and her niece, Elena Petrone. She is survived by her daughter, Delia, Delia's partner, Roland, her cousins Louise and Bob Mazzella, her niece Lisa Long, and her many other nieces and nephews, who will all miss her greatly.
