With hearts full of love and gratitude, we celebrate the life and legacy of Juliana Smith, a woman remarkable strength, unwavering faith, and boundless love whose presence touched everyone she encountered.
Juliana was born on August 22, 1950, in
Drew, Mississippi, to the union of Rosie Lee Shields and Willie Moore. She was lovingly raised by Napoleon Murray, who played an important role in shaping the woman she became. At the tender age of three, Juliana was baptized in Mississippi, beginning a lifelong walk of faith that guided her throughout her years.
In 1971, Juliana married Willie Smith, who preceded her in death. Together, they built a life rooted in love, resilience, and family- values that Juliana carried forward and instilled deeply in her children and grandchildren. She lived for her family, always putting their needs before her own. Through her words, she taught her children the importance of loving one another, respecting others, standing strong in adversity, and with dignity and grace.
Juliana attended and graduated from Farragut High School, later continuing her education at Traco School at Daley College. She dedicated many years of hard work before retiring early from Art Van, where she was admired for her dependability, dedication, and strong work ethic.
A true testament to her strength, Juliana was also a breast cancer survivor. She faced her battle with courage, faith, and determination, inspiring those around her with her resilience and unwavering spirit. Even, in the face of hardship, she remained loving, hopeful, and deeply devoted to her family.
On January 28, 2026, the Lord gently called Juliana home. Though she is no longer with us in body, her spirit, wisdom, and love will live on forever in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
She is also survived by her five siblings: Martha Ann Smith, Bequetha Hale-Moore, Cleveland Moore, Sidney Moore, and Renae Purcel.
Juliana leaves to cherish her beautiful memory to her five children: Iris (Ernest Bell), Julie (Tracy Walker), Valerie (Martino Bugg), Felicia, and Willie (Sharon Duston).
Juliana was blessed with a large and loving family, including 48 and counting great-grandchildren, 28 grandchildren: Tina, Jimmy, Tashay, Tierra, Raphael, April (daughter/granddaughter), Jovon (son/grandson), Asha, Tanisha, Roshun, Monisha, Meisha, Raju, Antwon, Martino, Jamarcus, Valissa, Bruce (Javon), Lisa, Telisha, Josh, Justin, Jada, & Destiny. Each of whom brought her immense joy and pride. She was preceded in death by her granddaughters Terika/Tamera & grandson Devin whom she now holds close again. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, great- nieces, nephews, great- nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Juliana's life was one of love, sacrifice, and perseverance. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who gave freely of herself and asked for little in return. Her laughter, guidance, and unconditional love will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
Today, we do not say goodbye-we say thank you. Thank you, Juliana, for the love you gave, the lessons you taught, and the legacy you leave behind. Your memory will forever remain a blessing.
