Julie Bjorne Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home Inc - Ishpeming on Jan. 19, 2023.
Ishpeming- Julie Ann Bjorne, age 68, longtime area resident, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Monday January 16, 2023 of natural causes.
Julie was born in Milwaukee, WI on October 10, 1954, daughter of Norman Bjorne and the late Louise "Arlene" Hendrickson. She and her family moved back to Ishpeming when Julie was an infant. Julie grew up in Ishpeming and attended Ishpeming High School where she graduated with the class of 1972. Following graduation she attended Northern Michigan University, graduating with her LPN in 1974. Julie then went on to attend St. Luke's School of Nursing, graduating with her bachelor's degree in 1979. She was a proud registered nurse, retiring from Marquette General Hospital in 2016. Julie was always a nurse even after the job, making sure her family used safety gear for fun or work. The few weeks spent for several years in Fort Myers Beach, Florida were a pleasure for her, it was a good break from the U.P. winters.
Julie was a strong proponent of family! Caring for, protecting, loving, and enjoying family. She especially enjoyed her great nieces and nephews, they were the light of her life. So many conversations daily were centered around the "kids" and when she would see them next and what they would all do together. They were such a source of pride for Julie. She would regularly talk and laugh about the many interesting things the youngest would say or do. There was always games, crafting in the sewing room, or snacks outside in the gazebo with Auntie Julie.
She loved the Arfelin Lake camp and all things involving camp. Side by side rides with friends, boating, saunas, and especially days spent with her nieces and nephews at camp. She enjoyed watching wildlife, reading, watching movies, crafting, and lunch gatherings with special friends and cousins.
Julie was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church, and a former member of the steelworkers food coalition.
Julie is much loved and will be greatly missed by everyone she loved.
Julie was a proud Finn, with much SISU.
Julie was a great wife and life partner for her husband, together remodeling a home, building a home and camp, and keeping what's important in focus and providing good common sense. They did much planning of home projects during special lunch dates.
Julie is survived by her husband- Paul Maki of Ishpeming, father- Norman Bjorne of Negaunee, 2 brothers- Robert (Dolores Aviles) Bjorne of Fayetteville, PA, Jim (Holly) Bjorne of Ishpeming, nieces and nephews- Jennie (Brandin) Johnson, Hillary (Andy) LaChapell, Seth (Erika) Bjorne, Jamie (Jeff Bloomhuff) Maki, JoAnna Heleste, great nieces and nephews- Claire, Brady, Jarin, Lucy, Lucas, Boone, Aaron, and Jack. She was preceded in death by her mother- Louise "Arelne" Bjorne, and nephew- Andy Tippett.
Following Julie's wishes, cremation will take place with no public services.
