There is an old saying, "It takes a village to raise a child." I feel very lucky to have had your Mom/Grandma living in my village when I was growing up. I think I spent more time at your house than I did at my own home. She was a good friend to my Mom, and a second Mom to me. The only name Dana knows her by is Grandma Julie. She showed us such kindness and generosity. She stuck up for me when she thought I had been wronged, and gave me a tongue lashing when she thought it necessary. You always knew where you stood with Mrs. D. I'm forever grateful to her and to you Dougherty kids for sharing her with me and my siblings.
This past year has been really tough for all of you. More sadness than you deserve. All of you have inherited your Mom's resilience. I know you will all get through this. And if ever a helping hand is needed, we are here.
You are all in our prayers.
