Julie Louise Sugg Singmaster was born in
Vancouver, WA on the Sugg family farm, later becoming Sugg Airport, ran by her Grandfather Roy Sugg (1957), and her father Herbert Sugg(1995).She loved her younger sister, Kathy Moreland, who left us in 2008. Her younger brothers; Jeff Sugg, with wife Susan, and Calvin Sugg, with wife Sue, were at her side through the end of her journey. She was proud of Kathy & Wray Moreland's three boys and watching their families grow: Barry&Tiffany, Brian&Jenny and Neil&Kristin.Julie was a highly creative and independent woman. She graduated from Evergreen High School in 1963 as valedictorian and prom queen. Attended Clark College from 1963-1965, graduating with Associate of Arts. She was on the design staff for the student magazine, Galapagon and Student Council Treasurer. She married Jimmie Lee Singmaster, from Portland Oregon in April 1966. They had a beautiful baby girl, Leslie Singmaster Runyan. Julie and Jim were active in the Jaguar Owner's Club of Oregon.They founded and organized the first All British Field Meet, at Blue Lake Park. Moving the event to PIR three years later with the Rollins, the Haywards, and the Grayson's. The event is still strong 48 years later. Julie and Jim created a wonderful life in
Vancouver, WA raising their daughter on an urban farm in the Minnehaha area. Julie worked for SW Washington Medical center as a transcriptionist for 25 years. Even in her last weeks, she would still correct the nurses on their medical terms .Julie was an environmental advocate. In 1971, newspapers wrote articles on how Julie, Jim & Leslie would repurpose, reuse and recycle everything in the household. Lessons, she passed down to her daughter and son-in-law, Leslie & Erik Runyan, Granddaughters, Erin Runyan, Megan Johnson, and Paige Travers. Son in laws, Nolan Johnson, and Gabe Travers.
Julie enjoyed playing and reading to her Great Grandchildren, Jett Crew & Foster Rae Johnson. Julie and her friends, Carol & John, found themselves on many fun hiking trips.Julie was very talented at restoring her house. Thoughtfully, designing interesting upgrades. Acquiring antique Japanese furniture and things that made her smile. Julie acquired a love for NW pacific native landscaping, from her mother, Gloria Mary Kelso Sugg (2002). Julie stayed close to her extended family and appreciated their love. Jim Singmaster & Jan Daniels, Ray & Linda Miller, JayeAnn Miller, Scott and Teri Miller, Mary Linder, and Tim Errington & Donna Singmaster. Recently attending, Kay Singmaster's 104th birthday. She wanted to thank nurse Anita, and the Ray Hickey Hospice staff that assisted her journey at the end. She was diagnosed with cancer 38 days before her death. The hospice staff were so important to her and her family. Julie requested no funeral service and her remains be cremated and given to family to scatter on their favorite hiking trails, gardens, beaches and to always keep our world peaceful and blooming with flowers and hope.
