Julie Elliott Yandell, 71 of Leesburg, FL passed away on September 3, 2025. She was born in Charlotte, NC on February 9, 1954 to Donald and Pauline Elliott.
In the summer of 1970 while on a cousin’s beach trip to Myrtle Beach, Julie met the love of her life, Bill Yandell at the Ocean Drive Pavillion. Both happened to be from Charlotte and continued dating after returning from the beach. They married soon afterwards and were married for 42 years until his death in March 2015.
They resided in Charlotte, NC and had two children, Caroline and Chris. In 1994 after a business trip to Leesburg, they fell in love with the town and decided to move their family and business here. Technicuff Corporation is a well-known business in Leesburg where Julie served as President for the past 40+ years. After her husband’s passing, Technicuff became a certified Women’s Owned Business with Julie as the owner/operator.
Julie was very involved in the community. She served as a Guardian ad Litem, was involved with the Amazing Race for Charity program and a graduate of Leadership Lake County Class of 1996. Julie also served as a family liaison for Special Olympics, served on the Lake County Children’s Commission for 15 years, and was a sponsor for the Boundless Playground at Lake Idamere. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Leesburg were she enjoyed watching Chris sing in the choir.
Julie enjoyed life and spending time with her family. They made many trips to Disney and the surrounding parks (often multiple in one day), going to Orlando City soccer games, attending Christian concerts with her son, Chris, watching her grandson, Bradford compete in soccer and football, and going to standup comedy shows with her sister and friends. Julie most enjoyed spending time with her daughter, Caroline, who was her best friend in life and more like sisters than mother and daughter. Julie loved and lived for her family. We know that family and friends will carry her memory and her amazing spirit in their hearts forever.
Julie is predeceased by her husband, Bill Yandell; sister, Donna Turbeville and nephew, Matthew Kight. She is survived by her loving children, daughter, Caroline (Scott) Van Dyken; son, Chris Yandell; grandson, Bradford Van Dyken (who called her Nanna Jule); sister, Ginny (John) Kight; many nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
The memorial service will be held at 3 pm on Sunday, September 14, 2025 at First Presbyterian Church of Leesburg, 200 South Lone Oak Drive, Leesburg, FL 34748. Feel free to wear Purple or your favorite Disney shirt in honor of Julie.
