Julius John Georgetti (Julie), 81, of
Pearl River, NY, passed away on September 18, 2024, surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer.
Julie was born on July 22, 1943, to Julius and Eleanor (née Enderley) Georgetti in Astoria, NY. After graduating from Monsignor McClancy High School in 1962, he began his first job at the Brooklyn Navy Yard. He then enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. Following his service in the Marines, Julie joined the NYPD. In 1973, he pursued studies at the New York Institute of Technology, where he earned a degree in Finance. He continued his career with the NYPD and was proud to be promoted to Detective. Julie had a distinguished career, including being selected to join the Tactical Patrol Force (TPF), a unit formed to address the rising crime in NYC. After 20 years on the force, Detective Georgetti was involved in a career ending accident.
Determined to reinvent himself, Julie focused on his passions: coaching and building. He became a high school baseball coach at both Tappan Zee High School and Don Bosco Prep. During this time, he also started a construction company, Mr. G & Son, Inc., which he managed until the age of 74. Julie had an incredible zest for life, and his family was his everything. He was known for constantly bragging about his children and grandchildren, and he made friends everywhere he went. In the 1980s, he ran the CYO basketball program at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church in Tappan, and his boys' team won the New York State Championship. Julie loved animals, and he enjoyed telling stories and jokes. And up until last week, he would discreetly slip his grandchildren money. His other passions included the New York Yankees, great food, traveling with his wife Carol, the Jersey Shore, Aruba, fishing, playing cards at the Knights Of Columbus, watching movies-especially cowboy films-and visiting the Borgata.
According to Julie, it wasn't about winning or losing, but whether you had fun doing it. He left behind a lasting legacy and will be deeply missed.
Julie is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Carol Crisci Georgetti; his children: Mary-Catherine Hindy (Edward), Julie-Ann Georgetti (Damon Galano), James Georgetti (Christine), Paul Crisci (Allison), and Gary Crisci (Jennifer); his grandchildren: Shayna, Marina, Kayla, James, Scott, Thomas, Sean, Matthew, Isabella, Gabriella, Giuliana; and his great-grandchild, Noah. He is also survived by his siblings, Ronald Georgetti (Elizabeth) and Gayle Georgetti, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.
