Julius Hass Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Brumley-Mills Funeral Home - Hartshorne on Dec. 16, 2025.
Julius Arnold Hass, 84, of Hartshorne, passed away peacefully Saturday, December 13, 2025 in his home in Hartshorne. His family has arranged for him to be cremated, and a memorial service has been scheduled for Thursday, December 18th at 11:00 am at the Edgewood United Methodist Church.

Julius Hass was born on July 17, 1941 in Haywood, Oklahoma to Ila and Arta (Bates) Hass. He grew up in Kiowa Oklahoma and graduated from Kiowa High School. After high school he attended Eastern Oklahoma State College. He served in the U.S. Army after his first stint in college. He served during the Viet Nam War, until receiving an honorable discharge. After the war, he worked as a machinist in Texas and Kansas for a few years. Weary of the travel, he went back to school to receive his Master's Degree in education. Shortly after obtaining his degree, he started his career in education. He worked in public education as a teacher and then a principal for a while. He then took a job in the education system of the Department of Corrections, where he taught, became principal, and eventually was promoted to the Regional Principal for South Eastern Oklahoma DOC. It was during this time he met his wife, Marjorie Sirmans. Marjorie and Julius have had a blissful and loving marriage. They have lived in Hartshorne for over 45 years. Julius enjoyed traveling with his family and loved all the pets brought home by his wife, even if he denied it. His main attention was on his family, his kids and grandkids, making sure they were all taken care of and doing alright.

Julius is survived by his wife, Marjorie Hass; children, Diane O'Connell and significant other William Thomason of Hartshorne, Melissa Whitehouse of Hartshorne; Deana Pilgrim of McAlester; Danny Hass of Tulsa; and grandchildren, Perry Johnson III and significant other Lauren Glasco of Stillwater, and Meara Dorton and husband Jaden Dorton of Shawnee.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Nelcson and Joe Hass; and 2 sisters, Alene Crowson and Armel Burns
