June Altman Obituary

June Waters Altman, age 69, of Aurora, Colorado, passed away on December 22, 2024, after her courageous battle with cancer. Born August 31, 1955, to the late William and Dorothy Waters, June grew up in the Great Bridge area of Chesapeake, Virginia.

She was a loving mother and grandmother, known to many as just “Grammy”. Others knew her as Mama June or Junie.

In addition to being a retired nurse, June was also a soccer coach, teacher, scout leader, singer, avid reader, sudoku aficionado, lover of musicals, and professional yeller at the Denver Broncos. She especially loved volunteering at her grandkids’ classrooms and helping with other school activities. June was as devoted to family as one could be and loved by all the lives she came to touch. June loved her family fiercely and practiced a kindness and selflessness rarely seen in today’s world.

June is survived by her oldest son, Joshua Altman (Shannon Ellis), her daughter Megan Altman (Mike Bettini), her youngest son, Shawn Altman, her grandsons Grayson Funk, Keegan Funk, Colton Funk, Donavon Bettini, and Kayden Altman, and her bonus grandkids Sophia Bettini and Mikey Bettini. She is survived by her brothers, Ray Waters (Pat) and Steve Waters (Cheryl). She is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Paul Waters.

A Celebration of Life for June will begin at 1:00 p.m., Friday, January 24, 2025 at Horan & McConaty Funeral Home Chapel - 11150 E.
