June Cosio Baggiani

Loving mother to Denise Baggiani, dear Grandmother to Dr. Danielle Hidalgo, PhD, and Richard Hidalgo, MS. Preceded in death by her loving husband and soul mate of 46 years, Albert Baggiani, her mother and father Marie and Keno Cosio and cousins, Dorothea and Alfred Duesdieker and in-laws, Alice and Ralph DeMartini. June was loved by many wonderful cousins and friends throughout her life, especially the Gotelli family: Larry, Jane, George, Donald and Diane, and their children. Cousins: Giles and Philomena Duesdieker, Phyllis and Brian McGuire and their children. She was especially close to Ray and Mary Baggiani, Frank and Rose Munoz, Carla Baggiani, Rose and John Simmons and the late Ida and Dale Korzan. She leaves behind her best friend from the 3rd grade, Joan Davis, and her daughter, Julie, and loving friends, Paula and Willie Neve and their children, Ricky, Patsy and Lisa. She passed peacefully at home from a long illness surrounded by Denise, Danielle and a dear friend, Debbie Sharabi. June was born in San Francisco where she attended elementary and high school at St. Paul's. She served as Student Body President in High School and was Senior Class President while attending San Francisco State University where she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a BA in Education in 1953. She went on to teach First Grade at LeConte Elementary School in San Francisco. In 1958, June and Al moved to Burlingame where she continued to teach as a Substitute teacher for many years, while raising Denise. In 1976, June and Al moved to Basra, Iraq, for Al's job assignment with Bechtel Corporation. They subsequently moved to Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia and then Houston, TX, for 10 years. They enjoyed many adventures travelling the world, including the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, China, Thailand, Hong Kong, Jordan and Greece. They went to Italy several times to visit their relatives and to London to visit Danielle in 2001. June was very active in many volunteer organizations. She was President of the Burlingame Music Club, a docent at Filoli for over 15 years, a 50+ member of the Commonwealth Club, the Catholic Charities Auxiliary President in 1972, OLA Mother's Club, OLA Amigos de los Capuchinos and was an avid participant at the Seniors in Motion exercise group. June had many interests and was an avid reader, often reading several books at a time; she did needlepoint, enjoyed live theater, and loved to prepare delicious Genovese recipes for her family. June's grandchildren were most precious to her and she was so proud of their accomplishments. She was happiest when they came home to visit. She was a loving grandma to the family dog, Larky and kitty, Helen of Troy, and loving Mom to her little dog, Kiki. In later years she loved to travel with Denise to Alaska, Kauai, Tuscany and her favorite trip led by Father Brian to Jerusalem and Petra. June's Catholic faith was extremely important to her and she enjoyed being a member of the OLA parish for over 58 years. Friends and family are invited to a vigil service at Crosby-N. Gray & Co., Friday, June 17, 2016 at 7:00pm, 2 Park Rd, Burlingame, CA and a memorial mass at Our Lady of Angels Church at noon on Sat., June 18, 2016, 1721 Hillside Drive, Burlingame, CA.
