June Ellen Eriksen, 76 of Tempe, AZ passed away Thursday, November 3, 2022 after years of battling numerous ailments including rheumatoid arthritis and diabetes. June was born on June 12, 1946 in Cleveland, Ohio, the daughter of the late Peter and Florence (Wells) Mekara. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Peter, Thomas, William and her sister Florence "Sue", and her infant son, Gregory. She is survived by her loving husband David of 42 years, her son, Christopher Kapilovic, wife Fiona, grandchildren, Carsen and Colin of East Lansing, Michigan and daughter Kimberly Kapilovic of Scottsdale, AZ. June moved to Tempe in 1977. She had a knack for numbers and worked in accounting for many years until she retired. June was an avid sports enthusiast and dedicated to her beloved Cleveland Browns but chiefly to all of the teams her son coached. She enjoyed bowling, Yahtzee, arts and crafts, ceramics, playing cards and entertaining but her passion was her family, especially her cherished grandchildren. She made her house a home and a gathering place for all of her friends and her children's friends where they enjoyed plenty of good food but most of all it was a place where they could be themselves. Everyone who knew June will miss her fun and feisty personality and her compassion. Her family will miss her fighting spirit, counsel and giving heart.
