Junie Benjamin Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by McCall's Bronxwood Funeral Home on Dec. 27, 2025.
On October 28th, 1969, a baby boy entered the world on the island of St. Kitts. George Benjamin was that boy, the eldest son of Margaret Benjamin and George Fough. He was affectionately known to his family and close friends as Junie.

He began his education at Newtown Primary School aka Pasture School for all Newtowne's. He developed a deep love of Art, Football (Soccer), and Basketball; he played center back (Soccer) for Pasture School and Douglas Street United.

During his mid-teenage years he played for Ghetto Roots, his local basketball team.

Junie continued his education at Basseterre Junior High School. After completing second form he was promoted to Basseterre Senior High School where completed two years of study before emigrating to New York City to be reunited with his mother and adopted Father St. Clare Rodney and his siblings.

In New York, George continued his secondary education by attending Evander Childs High School in the Bronx graduating in 1989. His passion for art remained strong and he continued pursuing this love by taking art classes on the weekend and entering Art Competitions where he received many awards and distinctions.

In 2000, Junie entered the Army Branch of the United States Armed Service where he served his adopted country with distinction and honor before retiring in 2022. During this time he received numerous medals, citations and awards including; Army Commendation Medal (3rd Award), Army Achievement Medal (2nd Award), National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Armed Forces Reserve Medal with M Device (2nd Award) and Army Good Conduct Medal (5th Award).

On November 18th, 2025, Junie exited this earthly world leaving behind two loving children (Jamal and Geovana Benjamin). His siblings Cuthbert and St. Clair Rodney. Herschell Phillip, Paul, Brian, Kurt, Charissa, and Sharmin Fough; his uncle's Reverend Calvin Hazel, Michael and Valentine Hazel, Alford, Livingston, and Foster Fough; Aunts Verna Blake, Avrill and Albertine Fough and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Brother, now you are free to rest, where stars shine through in peaceful realms beyond our view. In every heart your spirit stays a legacy time cannot erase.
