Junior Stites Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Evans Miller Guinn Exeter Chapel on Feb. 2, 2026.
Junior Sylvester Stites, 84, of Exeter, California, passed away on January 31, 2026, surrounded by most of those who love him the most. He was born on July 26, 1941, in Barling, Arkansas. Junior worked for many years in construction and went on to complete his education to become a State Building Inspector, where his professionalism and integrity earned the respect of many. After retiring, he enjoyed driving a school bus, a charter bus, forming lasting impressions with the children and families he served. Junior had a lifelong passion for motorcycles and cars. He spent many years racing motorcycles, always drawn to the thrill of the open road and the camaraderie that came with it. His love for engines and speed reflected his adventurous spirit and zest for life. Above all else, Junior cherished his family. He is survived by his loving daughters, Darlene Stepp (Darin) and Mona Carr (Mike Takahara); his sister, Frances Baty; his brother, Arnold Stites; grandchildren, Richard Stites, Monica Ryan, Brandon Stepp, Jacob Little, Gabrielle Stepp, and Daniel Stepp; and 16 treasured great-grandchildren who brought him immense joy throughout his life. He was preceded in death by his father, Earnest Sylvester Stites; his mother, Effie Mae Stites; and his beloved son, Sylvester Lee Stites. Junior was a devoted member of New Life Assembly in Exeter, California, where his faith and friendships provided comfort and strength. Later in life, Junior found his way back to God, and through that journey his gentle, loving, and generous spirit was renewed. That faith deepened the love he already poured into his family and those around him. Junior will be remembered for his big, unforgettable laugh, his strong work ethic, his adventurous soul, and his unwavering devotion to the people he loved. Though he is gone from our sight, his memory and the love he gave so freely will live on forever in our hearts.
