Jurell Barber Obituary
Jurell was born on June 12, 1986, in Rome, NY, the son of the late Ronald E. Barber and Mary Ann Johnson. He was educated in the East Syracuse–Minoa School District.
Jurell had a deep love for basketball and was a fan of the Denver Nuggets. He was also a true music lover, especially old-school rap, and took great pride in his sense of style.
He is survived by his loving mother, Mary Ann Johnson; his siblings, Lydell Carter, Sharonica Barber, Roneeka Barber, Joseph Johnson, Ronald Gordon, and Ronnie Gordon; his beloved grandmother, Zella Carter; his grandfather Willie Carter; his favorite uncles, Jimmie Carter and Deronn Carter; and his cousin and best friend, Joshua Barber.
Jurell also leaves behind three cherished children, with one more child on the way.
He was predeceased by his father, Ronald E. Barber, and his grandmother, Elsie Barber.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the Boykin family and the Herron family for their love, support, and kindness during this difficult time.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 1, 2026, at Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral and Cremation Services, 1123 Court St. Utica, NY, from 2:00–4:00 PM.

I first met Jurell in 1988 he´s always expressed his love for basketball a 2 year old kid that always wanted to slam dunk a ball lol I really wish things turned out differently for him and that instead of attending a funeral we could all be attending a pro ball game if only he had just followed that dream instead. You will be missed. Ur bro Ron
