Justin Dion Smith, age 56, of Osawatomie, Kansas, passed away Monday, March 9, 2026.
Justin was born November 2, 1969, in Paola, Kansas. He was the fourth of five children born to Clarence James and Donna Jean (Turner) Smith. He grew up in Osawatomie and attended school there, graduating with the Osawatomie High School Class of 1988.
Following high school, Justin enlisted in the United States Navy, where he proudly served his country for four years before receiving an honorable discharge. He later continued his service by enlisting in the Army National Guard for three years.
Justin worked for 23 years with J&J Asphalt. Outside of work, he enjoyed playing softball, riding his Harley, and watching sports. Justin loved spending time with his family and friends and was known as the life of the party wherever he went.
Justin fathered children with three women. Jackie is the mother of Mercedes. Rowena is the mother of Clay, Lyric, Romeo, and Everleigh. Mae is the mother of Daray.
He was preceded in death by his parents; infant sister, Deeanna; and brother, Andre.
Survivors include his children: Mercedes (Clay) Roland, Clay (Chase) Hart, Lyric Smith, Daray Smith, Romeo (Lilliana) Smith , and Everleigh Smith; two grandchildren, Silas Roland and Kain Smith; brothers, Bradley Smith and Derrick (Cheryl) Smith; along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Visitation 6-8 pm Wednesday March 18, 2026 at Eddy Birchard Funeral Home. Service will be 2 pm Thursday March 19, 2026 at the Eddy Birchard Chapel followed by burial at Osawatomie Cemetery.
