Kalyce Sholar Obituary
It’s with heavy hearts that we announce that Kalyce Marie Sholar went peacefully home to the Lord on March 31, 2025, at the age of 75. Born on February 13, 1950, in Chicago, Illinois. Affectionately known as Kathy, h as lived all over from Freeport to Alaska, but enjoyed the last 28 years here in Crow, Texas, in Wood County. Kathy has touched the lives of many during her time with us.
Kathy was an accomplished insurance agent for Allstate, where she dedicated herself to helping others protect what mattered most to them. She took great pride in her work and was known for her unwavering kindness and support.
Beyond her professional life, Kathy had a vibrant spirit and a love for games, especially UNO, where she always brought friends and family together for hours of fun and laughter. Kathy loved her church family from The First Baptist Church of Hawkins. You could either find Kathy sitting in her favorite spot or watching online on any given Sunday. Her home was a place of warmth, and she loved nothing more than spending time with her husband, family, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother Kathleen Ray, her father Charles Ray, her mother in law Katherine Sholar, father in law Cecil Sholar Sr, brother in law Richard Shattles, and brother in law Joel Walker.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 40 years, Cecil Sholar, and her children: Adrain Nettles (Michelle), Bryan Sholar, Jo Anne Martin (Joe), and Tina Brooks (Jim). She also leaves behind her cherished brother, Travis Green (Vivian), along with a wonderful host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will carry on her legacy of love.
Memorial services honoring Kathy’s life will take place on May 3, 2025 at 2pm at First Baptist Church of Hawkins, Texas. Family and friends are invited to join us for a celebration of her life, sharing memories and stories that exemplified her joy and spirit. We will gather to remember Kathy, reflecting on the love and laughter she shared with everyone around her.
Her wings were ready, but our hearts were not. She will be dearly missed.
