Gregory M. Hillman

Gregory Maurice Hillman, age 71, of Michigan, passed away peacefully surrounded by family. He was born on May 20, 1954 in Pontiac, Michigan, to Maurice Conrad Hillman and Donna Lucille Haines.
Greg proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1972 - 1979 during which he was stationed in Korea, Germany, Arizona, and Georgia. He earned the National Defense Service Medal for his honorable service.
Greg lived for his own amusement and for the joy of making others laugh. Known for his off-the-wall comments and even wilder contraptions built just to entertain his grandkids, he had a way of bringing humor into every moment. He was never one to sit still unless he was watching MASH or Wheel of Fortune and he filled his days with the simple things that made him happiest.
He loved quilting, took pride in growing his poppies, selling rhubarb from the garden, working in the yard, and tending to his plants. Some of his favorite times were camping with his grandkids, playing games, taking photos and celebrating birthdays with his famous homemade chocolate cake.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Maurice and Donna Hillman; his sister, Patricia Lundsford; his brother-in-law Eldred DeMars Jr.; his mother-in-law, Betty Lou Haller; sister-in-law, Marsha Haller; grandson, Kenneth P. Keller III.; and his beloved dogs Buddy, Sheba, and Princess.
Greg's memory will live on through his loving family. He is survived by his devoted wife of 35 years Betty C. Hillman and stepchildren: Betty (Ken) Keller, Marie (Tim) Birgy, C.J. Rapoza, and Jennifer (Gary) Clem. His cherished grandchildren include Emilea (David) Udell, Andrew Keller, Tristan Hart, Thomas (Emily) Keller, Aujuana Kewaygoshkum, Jori Keller, Justin Clem, Tapanga Clem, Paul Birgy, Austin Rapoza, Jericho & Skyler.
Greg is also survived by his sister Geraldine Demars, brother Ken (Jen) Hillman; his father-in-law, Victor Haller; brothers-in-law Gary Haller, Terry Haller and Kerry (Jodi) Haller and Victor (Debbie) Haller; sisters-in-law Laurie (Steve) Leposki and Nancy Haller; along with his aunts and many loving cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Greg will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His legacy of love, laughter, and family will remain in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
A memorial service will be held on October 25th at Kalkaska Funeral Home. Visitation will be held at 10AM, with the service following at 11AM, burial will follow the service at Evergreen Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Kalkaska Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
