Karan Cargill Brown

Karan Cargill Brown, 70, passed away peacefully Sunday, November 26, 2023 at her residence with her loving family by her side.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Friday December 1, 2023 in the chapel of McMullen Funeral Home with Rev. Shane Green officiating. The family will receive friends an hour prior to services at the funeral home, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Karan was born September 30, 1953 in Columbus, GA to the late Gillespie Thacker Cargill and Joan Wood Freeman Cargill. After graduating high school, Karan attended college to pursue a career as an educator. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, GA with a Masters Degree in Special Education. Through her career as an educator, she taught at various schools and eventually retired after more than 32 years from the very same high school she attended as a teenager, Hardaway High School. Karan was a member of the Junior League of Columbus, GA, a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, an avid reader, loved riding horses and being around her family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her younger sister, Kay Cargill Ellison.
She is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Gregory Alan Brown, Daughter, Amanda Kay Brown (Nasser), Son, Alan Brown (Kenzie), brother, Gillespie Cargill (Kelly), and two grandchildren, Kaylee and Kenlan, first cousin John Ralston Cargill, IV (Shirley) and several nieces and nephews.
