Karen Atterberry Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 4, 2025.
Karen Lee Atterberry (McClary), age 71, passed away peacefully in her home on December 4, 2025, after a battle with ALS. She was surrounded by love and family. She was preceded in death by her mother, Marjorie; her brothers, David and Ted; and her twin sister, Sharon.

She leaves behind a small but strong family: her brother, Scott, and her sister, Tamira; her children, whom she described as her purpose in life - Michelle, Heather, and Jon, along with his wife, Kristin. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren - Mekayla, Cayden, Amelia, Jack, Braelynn, Greyson, and Atlas - as well as three great-grandchildren, and her nephew, Shane, and his family.

Karen loved her family deeply, and all of them learned what true selflessness meant by her example. She loved to laugh, even when it was at a joke she was trying to tell that took five minutes to get out - where the funniest part was her laughing through it. She loved music, the holidays, and never passed up an opportunity to try her luck at blackjack.

She was a giant to her family in her five-foot frame, and her memory will keep her that way forever.

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Karen. I guess I just didn't realize how ill she really was. I thought she had just gotten ALS. My thoughts and prayers are with your family. I haven't known Karen since she was a teen, but she was always just the sweetest girl. I met her when she was probably two years old her and Sharon I'd love them both and Teddy and David as well I was so sorry when that family broke up and we didn't get to see the kids anymore, but we love them still the same.So very sorry for your loss
