Karen A Barnes

Karen was born in Cranford, New Jersey, on April 16, 1946, and passed away on September 29, 2025. She was a longtime resident of The Arc of Ocean County, having lived at the Chambers Bridge Supervised Apartments and the Chambers Bridge Group Home, and most recently at the Allwood Group Home in Brick, New Jersey.

Karen began her employment with The Arc of Ocean County's Employment Center in 1986, where she worked with dedication and pride. Over the years, she also participated in several day programs, including Senior Care (formerly Young at Heart) and most recently, the Ladacin Day Program in Lakewood, New Jersey.

Karen will be remembered for her warm spirit and the simple joys she embraced in life. She loved shopping, taking walks, doing arts and crafts, playing board games, and watching her favorite show, The Golden Girls.

She was predeceased by her parents and her brother. Karen will be deeply missed by her extended family at The Arc of Ocean County, her friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Funeral Liturgy is Tuesday, October 7th at 10:00 AM at St John's Church, 619 Chestnut St, Lakehurst immediately followed by inurnment at Hollywood Memorial Park, 1500 Stuyvesant Ave, Union.
