Karen Kiser Gottschalk, 83, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 surrounded by her family.
Karen was born in Youngstown, Ohio to the late Paul and Alberta Kiser. She was a proud graduate and lifelong fan of The Ohio State University, where she met her future husband, Gary Gottschalk. After raising her 3 daughters, Karen worked at K-Mart as a bookkeeper and then went into retail banking before retirement. She loved crafting and creating beautiful cards to send to the kids at Children's Hospital. Karen and Gary created a loving and generous home, where there were no strangers and everyone was family.
In addition to her parents, Karen was preceded in death by her loving husband of 53 years, Gary; and her mother and father-in-law Glenn and Florence Gottschalk. She is survived by her daughters Robin (Al) Fleming, Paula (Steven) Tharp, and Megan Gottschalk; honorary children Pamela and William Brown; brother Philip (Robyn) Kiser; brother-in-law Glenn (Susan) and Gregory (Roberta) Gottschalk; grandchildren Sasha & Genia Fleming, Josie and Bailey Musci, and Steven Jr, Cody, Courtney, and Chad Tharp; and nieces and nephews and many dear friends.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 16 from 1:00-3:00PM at the Anthony Funeral Home-Akron Chapel, 1990 S Main St in Akron, where a Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Akron Children's Hospital via https://give.akronchildrens.org/give/546472/#!/donation/checkout
