Karen Graul Obituary
Karen was born on March 28, 1957 in Santa Monica, California to William "Bill" J. and Loretta L. (Snider) Bonali.
Karen worked as a Registered Nurse at Herrin Hospital for over 30 years. In addition, she worked as a school nurse at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic School for several years. She said, "Being a nurse is my superpower." She adored taking care of and spending time with children; especially babies. Her greatest joy in life was being a mother.
She loved to work in her flower garden and taking care of her sunroom plants. She enjoyed traveling with her family and learning along the way about the destinations and seeing the sights.
Karen married Bradley Graul on April 8, 1995 in Marion, Illinois. He survives her in their home in Energy.
She is also survived by her son, Keith & Amber Walker and her grand-dog, Cash of Moody, TX; daughter, Alison Graul of Energy, IL; brothers, Jim & Carole Bonali of Herrin, IL, Michael & Julie Bonali of Carterville, IL, sisters; Kristine & Danny McRoy of Johnston City, IL, Traci Cain-Bonali of St. Petersburg, FL, Terri & Matt Pursell of Herrin, IL; mother-in-law, Brenda Dale of Herrin, IL; brother and sister-in-law, Bruce & Natalie Graul of Herrin, IL; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and special friends, Jamie, Donna, and Rosie.
She was preceded in death by; her grandmother, Josephine Amati; her parents and niece, Shelby Diann McRoy.
Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 3, 2025 at Meredith-Waddell Funeral Home with Fr. Mark D. Reyling officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 2, 2025. at the funeral home. Interment will be at Egyptian Memorial Gardens in Energy, IL after the funeral. Memorial donations may be made to OLMC New School Fund, 316 W. Monroe St. Herrin, IL 62948 or The Siteman Cancer Center, 1 Brookings Drive, St. Louis, MO 63130. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
