Karen M. Harding, 60, of Onawa, Iowa died Sunday, February 5, 2017 at Pleasant View Care Center in Whiting, Iowa after a long, courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Thursday, February 9, 2017 at the Rush Family Chapel in Onawa, Iowa with Evangelist Dale Wolf officiating. Burial will follow in the Whiting City Cemetery, Whiting, Iowa. Visitation will be held 9:00 A.M. until service time Thursday, February 9, 2017 at the chapel. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service in Onawa. Karen Marie was born January 9, 1957 in Onawa, Iowa to Merlin Ralph and Phyllis Joan (Whitehorn) Myers. She attended the Missouri Valley and Onawa elementary schools and graduated from Whiting High School in 1975. On October 9, 1976, she married Roger Warren Harding in Onawa. Two children were born to this union, Nicole Marie and Jacob Warren. She loved music, traveling, rock collecting, gardening, and cake decorating. She was an avid poet and always enjoyed helping others, assisting with 4-H and school concessions, helping to organize Whiting's 4th of July parade, and many other activities. Survivors include her parents, Merlin and Phyllis Myers, of Blair, NE; her daughter, Nicole (Joe) Hewitt of Wilton, IA; her son, Jake Harding of Castana, IA; two grandchildren, Aiden and Oliver Hewitt of Wilton, IA; a brother, Anthony Myers of College Station, TX; a sister, Crystal (Dave) Zima of Blair, NE; and two nieces, Karleigh and Makenzie Zima of Blair, NE; She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Ralph and Anna (Ketchum) Myers, and maternal grandparents, Howard and June (Leff) Whitehorn. We meet when I worked at pleasant view we hit it off as good friends and have talked every since that was 15 yrs ago '' we talked everyday or every other day about variouse things I loved her sense of humor and her great attitude even when she was very ill..she was always happy I will miss her a great deal ...
