Karen Louise Jackson, the daughter of Carl and Madelene (Gibbs) Johnson, was born on October 5, 1938, in Spirit Lake, IA. She was raised on a farm and received her early education in Terril, graduating from Terril Community High School.
On March 10, 1957, she married Gary Jackson in Terril. Following their marriage, they lived near Dickens, where they farmed and milked cows for many years. Karen held several jobs over the years. She worked for Electrolux for many years and then with Younkers. She later worked for Safeway, Super Valu and then Fareway. She also worked from home selling Avon.
She was a member of the Langdon Methodist Church, where she was a longtime volunteer, President of the UMW and a Sunday School Teacher. She enjoyed bowling, dancing, playing marbles, gardening and baking. She loved to spend time with family, going for coffee and visiting with friends. She especially loved to spoil her grandchildren.
Karen passed away on Monday, October 30, 2023 at Keelson Harbor in Spirit Lake, IA, at the age of 85. She was preceded in death by her parents; her son Rick; her grandson, Cody; her 2 brothers: Duane and Daryl and her sister, Colleen.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Gary of Dickens, IA; her daughters: Sherri (Pat) O’Brien of Clarion, IA and Jill Marquardt (Terry) of Hooper, NE; her daughter-in-law, Kaylene Jackson (the late Rick) of Terril, IA; her 9 grandchildren; her 15 great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
