Karen V. Jewell

Karen Virginia Jewell, 64, of Winchester, VA, died on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at the Winchester Medical Center, Winchester, VA.
She was born on December 22, 1960, in Winchester, VA, the daughter of the late Clayburn L. "Buddy" McFarland, Sr. and Hilda V. "Kathy" Kirby McFarland.
Karen was a 1979 graduate of James Wood High School. Karen was a dietary aide with various nursing homes throughout Winchester. She was Pentecostal by faith. Karen enjoyed collecting stickers and loved her horses and birds. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them.
She married Arthur "Gene" Jewell in December 1994 in Winchester, VA.
Surviving in addition to her husband Gene Jewell, are one daughter, Andrea L. Letterman of Winchester, VA; one step-son, Jared Jewell of Stephens City, VA; three step-grandchildren, Brianna, Zevon, and Grayson Jewell; three brothers, Clayburn L. McFarland, Jr. of Winchester, VA, Greg W. McFarland (Lynell) of Clearbrook, VA and Robert A. "Andy" McFarland (Tabetha) of Front Royal, VA; one sister, Della M. "Dee Dee" Owens (Scott) of Winchester, VA; her nieces and nephew, Melinda, Stephanie, and Scotty Jr.; her great niece and nephews, Irelynn, Eric, Quint, and Chase.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., at Giffin Funeral Home & Crematory, Capon Bridge, WV with Pastor Glenn Welsh officiating. Burial will be in Gainesboro Cemetery, Gainesboro, VA.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
