Karen M. Kinny, age 83, of Austin, Minnesota, passed away Saturday, March 15, 2025, at Prairie Manor Care Center in Blooming Prairie. Karen Mayrene Anderson was born on February 12, 1942, in Austin, Minnesota, to Julius and Florence (Frost) Anderson. Karen attended country school and graduated from Blooming Prairie High School in 1960. She worked for over 30 years as a teller and assistant auditor for First National Bank and US Bank. On July 12, 1963, Karen was united in marriage to Delbert Leroy Kinny at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Austin. The couple was blessed with two sons, Doug and Greg. Karen was a longtime member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. She enjoyed collecting antiques, especially glassware, teapots, and cookie jars and playing dominos with friends and family. Together Karen and Delbert loved traveling, especially to Arizona. Karen enjoyed visiting relatives and the time she spent with her siblings. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandson. She will be greatly missed.
Karen is survived by her two sons, Doug Kinny and Greg (Denise) Kinny, both of Blooming Prairie; six grandchildren, Jeffrey (Sarah) Kinny, Emily (Lucas) Scheel, Rose Kinny, Hannah Kinny, Beckie O’Grady, and Gina Law; one great-grandchild, August Kinny; and siblings, Dwayne Anderson of Glenville and Russell (Linda) Anderson of Austin. She was preceded in death by her parents, Julius and Florence; husband, Delbert in 2010; brothers, Nathan, Lyle, Rueben, and Kenneth; sister, Jean Huemann; and several half brothers and sisters.
The funeral service for Karen will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at First Lutheran Church in Blooming Prairie. The visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, March 21, 2025, at Worlein-Hoff Funeral Home in Blooming Prairie and will continue for one hour prior to the service at church on Saturday. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery, Austin. Worlein-Hoff Funeral Home of Blooming Prairie is assisting the family with arrangements.
