Karen Marie Larsen

Karen Marie Larsen, age 67, of Schaumburg. Devoted daughter of the late Corinne Larsen, nee Bacchi and Ronald Larsen. Loving sister of Nancy Larsen, Ronald Larsen, Denise (Ron) Michalek and Christine Larsen. Caring aunt of Ross and Ryan. Cherished cousin, niece and friend to many.
Karen lived a simple life yet there were many things that brought her joy. The love of her family, especially the cousins who always tried to get her to laugh. It was the best sound in the world. She adored her many pets through the years and all animals that she encountered. She loved sitting in her room, listening to music. Albums only! No CD's for her. She spent many hours making crafts and drawing and particularly loved to make memorial dolls for those that she loved who passed before her.
Karen volunteered at St Alexius for 14 years and was well known by many in the hospital. People still remembered her and called her out by name during the numerous doctor visits and admissions.
The last 6 months have been very difficult as Karen's health continued to deteriorate after each hospital stay. She fought hard but, in the end, it was time for her to go to a place where she truly knew she would be at peace, be with God and with her family and pets.
Karen's favorite song, which she asked Alexis to play almost every day, was "Oh Very Young" by Cat Stevens. Her favorite line - "Will you carry the words of love with you, Will you ride the great white bird into heaven" I believe she did.
Please join us as we celebrate Karen with a memorial visitation which will be held on Friday, September 22, 2023 from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Ahlgrim & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services, 330 West Golf Road, Schaumburg. Funeral service Saturday 10:30 AM at the funeral home. Interment will be at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside. In lieu of flowers donations will be appreciated to Special Olympics, Area 18, 605 E. Willow, Normal, IL 61761.
