Karen V. Maier

Dr. Karen Maier, PhD, age 81, of Plymouth, Michigan, passed away peacefully on December 29, 2025.

Karen was born on July 22, 1944, in New Kensington, Pennsylvania, to the late Stephanie (Sobolak) and Joseph Vovak. She was a distinguished clinical psychologist and educator whose career was marked by compassion, intellect, and dedication to helping others.

Karen was the beloved wife of 57 years to Richard Maier, and a devoted mother to their two children, Richard (Lee) Maier and Daniel Maier. She was also a proud and loving grandmother to Linnea Maier. Her warmth, wisdom, and steadfast support will be deeply missed by her family, friends, colleagues, and all whose lives she touched.

Friends may visit the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 South Main Street, Plymouth, on Sunday, January 11, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

A Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, 47650 North Territorial Road, Plymouth, Michigan, on Monday, January 12, 2026, beginning at 10:30 a.m.
