Karen Mastrone Obituary

Karen Mastrone
October 1, 2024
Karen L. Mastrone, 70, of Hebron passed away on October 1, 2024. Born in Bridgeport on November 10, 1953, she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Rose (Monaco) Mastrone. Karen attended Notre Dame HS and continued her studies at the University of Hartford. She worked in the IT field for over 40 years, starting with the Aetna Insurance Company and later becoming an IT Director for the Travelers Insurance Company, retiring in 2019. Karen had many hobbies that gave her enjoyment. She was an avid golfer, a great cook and baker, and enjoyed flying general aviation around New England with her friend Mark. Always a traveler, Karen took great joy in her retirement traveling with her dear friends, Jim, Risa, and Mark. Together they explored Ireland, Spain, Alaska, Switzerland, and Italy. She was an incredibly hard worker, whether working in the office or at home out in her yard. Karen will be remembered most for her courage, generosity, as well as her loving and caring spirit. She was a selfless person who will truly be missed by all who were fortunate to have known her. Karen is survived by her great friend of 30 years, Mark Winne, her brother Mark Mastrone, her nephews and nieces, her many loving cousins, and the many friends who were touched by her kindness and generosity. There will be a memorial service at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741.
