Karen Ann Mathwig (Olin) passed away peacefully on January 14th, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. Karen was a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend whose life was defined by compassion, strength, and unwavering commitment to those she loved.

Karen was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on June 25th, 1946. Throughout her life, she carried herself with resilience and a deep sense of responsibility to her family and community. She believed in hard work, integrity, and caring for others- values she passed on to her children and grandchildren.

Above all, Karen cherished her family. She was a loving mother to her 3 children and a proud grandmother who found great joy in watching her family grow. Her home was a place of warm and unconditional love.

Karen had a generous spirit and a heart for service. Whether through charitable efforts, quiet kindness, or simply being there for those in need, she made a meaningful difference in the lives of those around her. Her legacy of compassion, strength, and love will continue through her family and all who were to know her.

Karen was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Jerry Mathwig, and parents, Walt and Marion Olin. Karen is survived by her brother, Ron Olin (Hilary O'Toole), three sons, Mike Mathwig (Kristy Durand), Jamie Mathwig, and Mark Mathwig. Grandchildren- Ashley Lindholm (Aaron Lindholm), Luke Mathwig, Mallory Mathwig, Mollie Shea Mathwig. Great-grandchildren- Finley, Cora, and Reagan Lindholm. Special friend and cousin, Ann Marie Ragusi.

Services will be private.
