Karen McMahon

With love and sorrow, we share that Karen J. McMahon passed away on October 29, 2025. A wife, mother, sister, Grammy, and friend, she was known for her fierce loyalty, passionate viewpoints, and sharp eye behind the camera. Her photographs reflected her spirit - bold, honest, and full of heart. She was predeceased by her parents, Mathew James and Jean King, and is survived by her loving husband, Brian McMahon, her daughter Amy and her husband Erik, and her children through marriage Jenn and her husband Skoti, Sean and his wife Ali as well as her cherished grandchildren Avery, Ryan, Kellan, and Thomas. She is also survived by her brothers Kenneth and his wife Kathy, Thomas, John and his wife Ingrid as well as loving extended family and circle of friends who will miss her deeply.
Karen was born in Greenwood Lake, NY on July 30,1953 and spent most of her life in Middletown, New Jersey. She graduated from Middletown High School North. Although Karen's creativity took many forms including writing, woodburning, stained glass making, her passion was photography - an art form where she found both joy and connection. Her work earned her recognition and awards in the Housatonic Camera Club, but it was the simple act of capturing a moment that meant the most to her.
Those who knew Karen will remember her for her quick wit, strong will, and her love of all things Christmas. Her legacy lives on through the images she created, the love she gave, and the people whose lives she touched.
A gathering to celebrate Karen's life will be held on Sunday, November 2, 2025 1:00 - 4:00 at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home 115 Tindall Rd. Middletown, NJ 07748 with friends and family invited to share memories and reflections beginning at 3:00.
