Karen Lee Morse, 72, passed away February 4, 2025, at her home in Cornelius, North Carolina. She was born on June 11, 1952, in St. Charles, Illinois, to Martin Vroman and La Vyrne (Kreitz) Vroman, and spent her childhood and most of her adult years in that Fox Valley area. She held a variety of clerical, accounting, and office management jobs for businesses and county government.
Karen was once an accomplished organist, playing in various competitions as a student, and entertaining listeners at music stores and local club meetings with a varied repertoire of musical styles. For a time, she studied under a world-renowned organist in Chicago. She also had an eye for interior design, and Karen lovingly decorated her homes as showcases of that skill, creating warm, welcoming spaces.
If one were to ask her about her most passionate interests, she would typically answer "Jesus, music, and walking." Neighbors would often see her walking with her husband and/or beloved dog around the neighborhood, perhaps not knowing she was doing it as much for pleasure as for exercise. Karen was a believer in the power of prayer and her faith in God was unshakeable. She now sleeps waiting to be called forth from the grave on that great Resurrection Day.
Karen married Dwight Morse on May 15, 2005. The couple moved from her native Illinois, first to Waterford, Wisconsin, then later to Cornelius. She is survived by her husband, by two sisters, Wendy Richardson of Spring Grove, Illinois, and Melody Vroman of Bloomingdale, Illinois, by her daughter, Erika Teitell (Daniel) of Franklinton, North Carolina, a grandson, Hudson Teitell, as well as a niece and a nephew. Karen also cherished her relationship with her husband's sons, Matthew and Timothy.
A private memorial service will be held. The date and time are still pending.
