Karen Prescott Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by McIntire McCooey Funeral Home - South Berwick on Dec. 21, 2025.
Karen E. Prescott, 73, of South Berwick, passed away peacefully on December 17, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born on July 23,1952, in York, Maine, Karen was the daughter of the late Earl and Dorothy (Westgate) Bray.
A graduate of York High School, Karen met the love of her life, Peter, in the summer of 1970 while he was serving in the United States Navy. After spending a brief time living in Oceanside, California, they settled in South Berwick, where they made their home for the past 50 years.
Karen dedicated more than 32 years to her work at the Somersworth Market Basket. Her coworkers and customers were truly her second family, and she took great pride in the relationships she built there. She was best known for her love of bingo, penny sales, playing cards, and relaxing in her pool.
Above all else, Karen cherished time spent with family and friends. Whether it was her nightly phone calls to her grandchildren or lunch dates with close friends, she deeply valued every relationship in her life. She was never happier than when she was surrounded by her grandchildren, who were the light of her life.
Karen is survived by her beloved husband of 53 years, Peter Prescott of South Berwick; her sons, Tim Prescott and his wife Kara of Dover, and Steven Prescott and his wife Rebekka of Dover; her siblings, Kenneth Bray of Scarborough and Kathy McPhee of Portsmouth; and her cherished grandchildren, Austin, Isla, Jacob, and Madeline.
Friends and family are invited to visit on Tuesday, December 30, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at McIntire-McCooey Funeral Home, 301 Main Street, South Berwick, Maine. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at 10:00 AM at the funeral home. Karen will be laid to rest at Woodlawn Cemetery in the spring.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, Hyder Hospice House, or the Dementia Society of America.

I´m so sorry to hear about Karen. She was a wonderful person and great neighbor. I loved our conversations at the checkout at market basket. And your house was always my kids favorite at Halloween. My prayers go out to you and your family.

My fondest and best memories of my child and teen years are of spending time with Karen she was always so kind and warm. Her smile her laugh will always be in my heart As adults we didn´t get to see each other often but I was always welcomed with a wonderful smile and a hug. We would talk about our lives and you could hear the pride and love when she talked of her sons and grandchildren
Karen put so much love out into this world

Pete and family: I am so very sorry to hear about Karen. She was a wonderful cousin, but most of all a warm and wonderful person. Her smile could light up a room, and her gentle nature was always so comforting to me. She will be missed by so many!! I will keep all of you in my thoughts and prayers. God Bless you all.

Love always,
