Karen H. Valli, 82, of Vernon, beloved wife of over 60 years of Allen A. Valli Jr., passed away peacefully, with her family at her side, on Wednesday, August 6, 2025. Karen was born on November 7, 1942, in Brockton, Massachusetts, one of three children of the late Frank E. and Louise H. Parris.
She was a graduate of Silver Lake Regional High School in Kingston, MA, and later earned her bachelor's degree in early childhood education from Northeastern University in Boston. In her early years, Karen taught in elementary schools in Scituate and Marshfield, Massachusetts.
Karen met the love of her life, Allen, and together they moved to Vernon in 1968 and started their family. Karen was a Communicant of Blessed Sacrament Parish where she attended St. Bernard Church in Rockville. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution as well as the Square Wheels Square Dance Club of Enfield. In their earlier years, Karen and Allen were members of the Ice-Skating Club of Hartford. She was an avid scrapbooker and thoroughly enjoyed creating the books for family and friends.
In addition to her beloved husband, Allen, she leaves her daughter and son-in-law, Louise and Pinaki Roy of Tenafly, NJ, and her two cherished grandchildren, Sonia A. Roy and Ravi A. Roy, both of Tenafly, NJ. Other immediate family members include her sister, Meredith Peterson of Somerville, MA, her twin brother, Charles C. Parris, and his wife, Marianne of Pensacola Beach, FL.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Bernard Church, 25 St. Bernard Terrace, Vernon, CT 06066. Burial will take place on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. in the Pembroke Center Cemetery, Pembroke, MA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Northeastern University at https://advancement.northeastern.edu/giving/ or the Cornerstone Foundation for the benefit of the Soup Kitchen at www.cornerstone-cares.org.
