Karen Wagar Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service - Miami on Jan. 28, 2026.
Karen Lou Wagar, 61, a resident of Welch, Oklahoma, passed away at her home surrounded by family on Sunday, January 25, 2026. Karen was born in Albany, New York, on October 12, 1964, to Lawrence and Margaret (Gumlaw) Sousie. She married the love of her life, John Wagar, on May 4, 1985, in Brunswick, New York. Together they would spend forty-seven years together. Karen worked for Cocoas Inn and Suites as the assistant head housekeeper for over twenty years. She lived in the Troy, New York area for most of her life, but moved to Oklahoma with John in 2018. When Karen was not working, she loved to be outdoors. She enjoyed going to dirt tracks and watching races. She liked to knit and crochet in her free time as well. Mrs. Wagar will be remembered as a selfless, fun loving, and spunky lady that had the need for speed. She will be missed by many friends, family, and her fur babies. Karen is preceded in passing by her father, Lawrence Sousie, sisters, Terry Bussing and Darlene Sousie, and her grandchild, Steven Wagar Jr.

Those left to share the beautiful memory of Mrs. Wagar include her husband of forty-seven years, John Wagar, son, Nick Wagar, daughter, Katie Wagar, siblings, Mark Sousie, Sue Mehan, and Keith Sousie, grandchildren, Nicholas Wagar, Jacob Wagar, Austin Wagar, John Wagar, and Adrianna Longo.

There will be a visitation for Mrs. Wagar from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M., on Friday, January 30, 2025, at Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Miami, Oklahoma.

Friends and family may send the family notes of encouragement by viewing Mrs. Wagar's Tribute Page at www.brown-winters.com.
