When Karen Woolhiser passed away on August 11, 2025, she left a lasting legacy of caring for and giving back to others. She was born to Charles and Marilyn Andrews in Fort Collins, CO, on March 17, 1957. The family soon moved to Boulder, CO, where Karen attended Fairview High School.
During her early married years to husband Ross Woolhiser, she attended a banking school in Wisconsin and then opened the Bank of the West, now known as BMO. She stepped away from banking to raise their two children, Ryan and Stephani.
Her children remember her as a very hard-working mother, one who always had time for them and shared her different work locations, all the while making it fun for them. Her love language can best be described as service.
When Karen returned to working, she did so as assistant to the GM and Event Manager at Omni Interlocken Hotel in Broomfield, CO. During her time at the Omni, she became involved as a volunteer with the Hospice of Boulder and Broomfield Counties (now TRU Community Care), where she served as the chairman for 7 years for their "Pizzaz" fundraising event.
Karen's deep devotion for giving back and helping others less fortunate didn't stop there. She continued her volunteer work with Make-A-Wish Foundation, where she enjoyed mentoring young children.
During her years as a mortgage lender, she continued to infuse everything she did with a service mentality. She helped so many in the Boulder and Denver areas navigate through the stressful experience of buying a home. Whether it was a first-time buyer, someone buying a second home, or the emotional step in downsizing, she treated everyone the same. Many described working with her as family. She never failed to miss a closing with a home-baked Bundt cake in hand for the new owners (and realtors).
With a knack for adventure, she always loved taking her children (and their friends) on trips. Karen enjoyed hiking, golfing, riding her bike, and anything active. She taught her children what matters in life, instilling a value system that she displayed in everything she did. She had a smile and energy that lit up every room she walked into.
Karen is survived by her son Ryan (Allie) Woolhiser in Dallas, TX, daughter Stephani (David Foltz) in Broomfield, CO, grandchildren Leighton and Barrett Woolhiser (Dallas, TX), and sister Kim Andrews Littlejohn (Berthoud, CO). She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.
A Celebration of Life is planned for October 19 from 12 to 2 p.m. at the Omni Interlocken Hotel, 500 Interlocken Blvd., Broomfield, CO 80021. If you would like to donate in her honor, please make a contribution to ALS United Rocky Mountain.
