Karettia, AKA Doddle, lost her dementia battle on Sunday, November 10, 2025, at Parkside Manor in Columbia Missouri.
Karettia was born in Columbia to Madge W. Dixon. She graduated from Hickman High School in 1971 and went on to attend the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg, Missouri. She had the honor of being the first black cheerleader at both institutions.
She lived in West Lafyette, Indiana for over 25 years where she was employed at Packaging Systems. She traveled the world with visits to Puerto Rico, Guana, South America and Paris France to name a few. Karettia enjoyed going to her local farmers market every Saturday while living in Indiana, for fresh flowers for her dining room table. She was full of joy and humor and treasured time with family and her many, many, friends old and new.
Karettia is survived by her brothers; Michael (Rose) Dixon, John Dixon, and brother-in-law Richard Kirmse, her sisters; Kay Franklin, Darlene Dixon, and sisters-in-law Martha Dixon, and LeNeta Dixon, and a host of fun-loving nephews, nieces and their extended families.
Preceding her in death are her mother, two sisters, and one brother, her aunt and uncle and two first cousins.
The Dixon family extends their thank-you's to the staff at Parkside Manor and Preferred Hospice who treated our sister with respect, caring, and professionalism. A special thank you to Lauren at Preferred Hospice for her kindness and clear-cut end-of-life knowledge during Karettia's final moments. Our appreciation to Jessica and the staff at Parker-Millard for making Karettia's home journey a smooth and heartfelt process.
Friends and family will be received Thursday November 20, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12:00 p.m. at Parker-Millard Funeral Service followed by interment at Memorial Park Cemetery in Columbia, Missouri.
Arrangements are under the direction of Parker-Millard Funeral Service & Crematory, 12 East Ash Street, Columbia, MO 65203 (573) 449-4153. Condolences may be left online for the family at www.millardfamilychapels.com
