KARIN DICKERSON Obituary

Published by Richmond Times-Dispatch on Nov. 14, 2012.
DICKERSON, Karin Birgit Heidecker, was born in Aussig in the Czech Republic on April 10, 1941, only a few short minutes before her identical twin sister, Ingeborg Maria Heidecker. In 1959, Inge moved to America and Karin followed her one year later. They became proud American citizens. Karin and Inge shared an incredible bond and except for brief periods of time, spent their entire lives together. Karin's struggle with cancer ended on the morning of November 9th and she found eternal peace with God surrounded by her family. Her survivors include her loving husband of 26 years, Glenn Dickerson, and her devoted sister, Inge. Glenn adored Karin and provided well for her and Inge. Karin was also survived by her three children whom she loved dearly and unconditionally: Angela Brown Creech, Frank Overton Brown III and Matthew Richard Overton Brown. She is also survived by her son-in-law, Don Creech, Frank's dear friend Dawn Ladd and her daughter-in-law, Candace Brown. Karin was blessed with five grandchildren who survive her; Angela's children, Danielle Marie Rateau and Scott Anthony Rateau Jr. and Matthew's children, Madison Lynne Clark Brown, Adam Matthew Clark Brown and Jonathan Matthew Clark Brown. Karin was so proud of her children and grandchildren and always reminded them of how special they were. Karin is also survived by her half-brother, Karl Heinz Heidecker and her half-sister, Angela Heidecker. Karl Heinz is married to Luzie; and they have three children Suzanna, Florian and Andreas. These family members live in Germany. Karin was beautiful in body and spirit. She was a devoted wife and sister, loving mother and cherished friend. She was artistically talented beyond belief and blessed many of her friends and family with gifts of her one-of-a-kind creations. She will live forever in our hearts. As was Karin's wish, family and friends are invited to visit and celebrate in her memory at the home of her daughter, Angela Creech, on Sunday, November 18, between the hours of 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. At approximately 5:30 p.m., the immediate family invites anyone interested to join in a time of reflection where we will share our favorite memories of Karin. For directions, please call 814-7772.

Angela and family - Harold and I are so very sorry to hear of your mother's death. I will always hold dear our coffee at Panera where you called her to check on her before a treatment. Your love and concern was wonderful to share at that moment. We hope your memories will sustain you in these days, months and years ahead.
