Karl M. Bohlander, of West Chester, Ohio, departed from this world on June 17, 2025, at the remarkable age of 98. Born on January 18, 1927, in Hamilton, Ohio, he was the beloved son of the late Martin and Rosa (nee Kenworthy) Bohlander.
Karl's heart belonged to his dear wife Elsie Kahl, whom he married on March 5, 1955. They were married for 65 years until her passing in 2020, leaving a legacy of devotion and deep family ties. He was also preceded in death by his parents and his beloved sisters, Mary Finchum and Doris Harbron.
He is lovingly remembered by his daughters, Nancy (Keith) Ratajczak and Maria (Karl) Richey, who blessed them with three grandsons, Tyler Ratajczak, Blair "Rainy" Richey, and Brice "Nicky" Richey. Karl is also survived by his brother Robert (Barbara) Bohlander, as well as nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who will carry his memory in their hearts.
A proud Navy veteran, Karl served his country with honor during World War II as a Signalman on destroyers. He later pursued higher education at the University of Cincinnati, earning a Bachelor's Degree in Science, and devoted his professional life to General Electric as a talented Chemist. His world travels included Europe, Northern Africa, the Philippines, China, and all corners of the United States, including Alaska and Hawaii.
Dad had an immense passion for fishing, a joy that was woven into the fabric of his family's life. Yearly trips to Spanish, Ontario, Canada became a treasured tradition, where he and his loved ones created countless memories fishing on the North Shore of Lake Huron. His enthusiasm for nature ran deep, whether deer hunting in upstate New York or relishing long scenic drives through the Northeast. Karl loved hiking the Adirondack and Catskill Mountains, boating with family on Lake George, and taking the boat through the Locks of the Mohawk River. He so enjoyed watching the large variety of wildlife that graced his surroundings, with a particular love for birdwatching. He was also an avid gardener of vegetables and flowers all his life.
A visitation celebrating Karl's remarkable life will take place on Monday, June 30, 2025, from 11:00 AM until the time of the service at 12:00 PM at Mueller Funeral Home, 6791 Tylersville Road, Mason, OH 45040, with entombment to follow at Rose Hill Burial Park.
