Dr. Karl Mckibben Johnson

Very sad to hear of his death. He worked very closely with my parents in Bolivia (1962-1964). I have some childhood memories of him (I was 6 at the time). Enclosed is a photo of Dr Johnson and my Dad CPT Borg transporting the recently isolated Machupo virus (in the larger dewar) to Panama. My parents first meet Dr Johnson as part of the Bolivian Nutrition Study, the Pinta Project and the Bolivian Hemorrhagic Fever project. My parents through their letters spoke often of the Dr Johnson and the MARU team, for which they had a very close friendship (at least went to the cocktail parties).
