Karl P. Neumayer

Karl P. Neumayer, a longtime resident of Mahopac, NY passed away on Thursday June 4, 2015 at the age of 88. He was born in the Bronx on September 29, 1926, the son of Richard and Fanny Meier Neumayer. Karl served in the US Navy during WWII and worked in industrial maintenance during his working life. He retired from General Motors in Tarrytown as an industrial maintenance supervisor. Karl built several homes in the area, including those of family members. Karl was a life member of the Mahopac Falls Volunteer Fire Department where he served as Chief of the Department from 1984-1986. He served on the building committee in 1981 when the department expanded the main fire house. On September 11, 1948 he married Madeline Schumacher at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in the Bronx. In addition to Madeline, he is survived by his son Richard (Dawn) of Hopewell Junction, NY and his daughter Madeline (Michael) of Ridgefield, CT and his grandchildren Anne and Karl. Visiting will be held on Tuesday June 9 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at Joseph J. Smith Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10 am at St. John The Evangelist Church in Mahopac with interment to follow at Ballard-Barrett Cemetery, Mahopac Falls, NY.
