Karl F. Scherer

Karl Frederick Scherer, age 73, passed away suddenly on October 31,2025. Originally, Karl was from Brewster NY. He went to Vail Colorado in 1972, and as he often said, "never left". He built a vibrant life in the mountains he loved, He shared his time between Costa Rica, Colorado and visiting his family in Connecticut often, and planned many adventures with his family all over the world. An avid skier and sailor, Karl's adventurous spirit was matched only by his warmth and generosity.
He was a perfectionist at his craft, a gifted commercial painter, known across the valley for his precision and pride in his work. He built a successful business not just with skill but with integrity. He cared about people. His clients became friends, and his friends were like family.
Karl is survived by his longtime partner Cheryl Browne, his daughter Karli Smith, his sister Karen Hannan, sister Krista Strol, his brother Kurt Scherer, and his five granddaughters who brought him endless joy and love.
His laughter, stories, and deep love for life will be missed by all who knew him. The family wanted to share the news of his passing to his friends from the Brewster, NY area.
