Karl Schoder, 88, of Huntley, passed away peacefully Wednesday morning, April 16, 2025, at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born on October 13, 1936, in Mainz, Germany the son of Friedrich and Paulalina (Schultz) Schoder. Karl married Erika Rossberg on January 10, 1964, in Trebur, Germany. In 1966 they decided as a family to start their new adventure in America, where fortunately, Karl was able to open his own business S&S Welding and fabrication from 1977-2006. He also enjoyed being a member of the Barnstormers for 40 years where he loved to fly remote-controlled planes, and greatest joy was spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Erika; his son, Robert (Jodi) Schoder; grandchildren, Taylor & Christopher; and his twin brother, Fritz Schoder.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Gerda Torno.
Visitation for Karl will be held on Monday, April 21st from 4 to 8 pm at the James A. O'Connor Funeral Home, 11603 E. Main St. in Huntley with a prayer service at 7:45 pm.
