Karla Bechtel Obituary

Published by Legacy on Sep. 2, 2025.
Karla Sue Bechtel, 59, of Dumas, Texas, passed away on August 30, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. Born and raised in Dumas on November 13, 1965, Karla lived a life marked by creativity, generosity, and a deep love for her family and the simple joys of life.

Karla was a woman of many talents and passions. She found joy in the kitchen, where her cooking and baking brought people together. Her homemade vanilla ice cream on the Fourth of July became a cherished tradition for all who knew her. She had a gift for crafting, crocheting, sewing, making jewelry, and creating beauty with her hands. If the sun was shining, Karla could be found outside, tending to her flowers and gardens, pickling vegetables, or making homemade plum jelly from her own harvest.

Karla had a soft spot for animals, especially her beloved dogs. She raised and bred weenie dogs and loved them like her own children. It wasn't uncommon to see her out and about with her pups in tow, they went everywhere with her, because they truly were her babies.

She loved to shop and give gifts, and her joy was most evident when she was with her grandsons whether swimming, fishing, or camping under the wide Texas sky. Her warmth, generosity, and laughter made every gathering brighter.

Karla is survived by her loving children: daughter Katie Charlton and husband Chase of Borger, Texas; son Joe Bechtel of Fritch, Texas; son Jacob Bechtel of Big Lake, Texas; and son Josh Bechtel and wife Jessi of Granbury, Texas. She is also survived by her brothers, Kacey Cain and wife Terri of Rockwall, Texas, and Keith Cain and wife Amber, of Waxahachie, Texas; along with eight grandchildren and numerous other family members and friends who deeply loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Sue Cain of Dumas, Texas.

Karla's life was a blessing to all who knew her. Her legacy of love, creativity, and kindness will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and everyone touched by her generous spirit.

"I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world."
-John 16:33
