WEAVERVILLE – Karla Sue Piccirillo, age 62, of Weaverville passed away Sunday, February 15, 2026, at Mission Hospital after a sudden illness. She was born on February 11, 1964, in Brunswick, Maine to the late Glen and Barbara Jean Waller Cleveland. Karla was also preceded in death by her sister, Glenda Cleveland Wahl.
She attended the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, as well as A-B Tech where she began working in the Human Resources department. Later moving to UNCA, she worked there until her recent retirement. Karla was well known for putting others before herself, and this was also displayed in her talent for being a wonderful, thoughtful gift-giver. She enjoyed gardening, appreciated nature and was of the Catholic faith. She was so selfless and brave in sickness and in health and it was clear that she was the caretaker of the entire family. Her family will never forget the love that she showed them and will forever have a piece of them missing that could never be replaced.
"Oh, I've seen fire and I've seen rain, I've seen sunny days that I thought would never end. I've seen lonely times when I could not find a friend, but I'd always thought that I'd see you again."
Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 41 years, Jeffrey Piccirillo; daughter, Emily Piccirillo (Leah); son, Edward Piccirillo (Jess); grandchild, Sam; many nieces, nephews, and grandnieces and grandnephews; and her good friends, Marie, Amy, Debra, Cathy and Sue.
