Helen Abend Obituary
Helen M. Abend, 97, of Syracuse, passed away February 11, 2026 with her daughter at her side. Helen was born in Syracuse, New York on August 26, 1928 to George and Dorothy Yawman.
In her free time, she enjoyed spending time with her family, doing crafting and spending time with her cats.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy Yawman; father, George Yawman; husband, Harold C. Abend; son, Timothy O'mara and great grandson, Damian Tanco.
She is survived by her daughter, Sheena (John) Elacqua; brother, Daniel Yawman, four grandchildren, Stacey Thomas, Tiffany Elacqua, John Elacqua III and Ginger Yrabedra, and 12 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may call on Wednesday, February 18, 2026 from 4pm - 6pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals , 705 N. Main St., North Syracuse followed by a funeral service at 6pm.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association CNY Chapter
